This process may take a while as both files need to be read completely (but no changes are applied to them).

When the comparison is finished, you get the following information:

  • "Image file summary" and "Image state". The number of missing sectors will be above zero if the image contains still uncorrected read errors. In contrast the appearance of checksum errors is usually the result of incorrect handling or hardware problems.

  • "Error correction file summary" / "Error correction data".
    This field shows the settings used while creating the error correction data, and whether it can be processed by your version of dvdisaster. If an error correction file does not correspond to the image file or if it is damaged, warnings are printed beneath the last four entries.

  • Hint: The results of the verification are unreliable if the image has been read in by a software other than dvdisaster. Especially, all missing sectors will be classfied as checksum errors if a different software has been used.
